John Stevenson, MP for Carlisle, has welcomed a 974,000 investment into Carlisle Truck Stop, Parkhouse Road, near Junction 44 of the M6.
The £974,000 is made up of 315,000 Government investment from the Department for Transport’s HGV Parking and Driver Welfare Match funding grant scheme and £695,000 related industry investment. The funding will allow for improvements to be made to welfare amenities, security provisions and HGV parking facilities.
Commenting John said, “I am delighted to see this investment into Carlisle. The grant demonstrates the importance the Government attaches to road haulage and logistics and improving the working lives of a significant number of HGV drivers. I look forward to seeing the improvements this will bring.”
